History of the Tournament
The Kathy Whitworth Invitational Junior Girls Championship was
established in 1999 to give talented girls the opportunity to participate at the
highest tier of competitive golf on a premier championship course with entry
acceptance based on merit rather than dependent upon means or resources.
The tournament is conducted in concert with the ideals of the USGA promoting the
love of the game while building character, leadership, and responsibility.
With these high standards, top U.S. and international junior girl golfers are
attracted annually.
The Golf Course
Since inception, Mira Vista Country Club has been the site for
the Tournament as well as a dedicated participant. As the site for
the 2004 USGA Girl's Junior Championship selection by the USGA is testament to
the quality and difficulty of Mira Vista and the integrity of the Kathy
Whitworth Invitational, a tournament nationally ranked by Golfweek/Titleist.
Kathy Whitworth
Kathy Whitworth has graciously given her time and name to
ensure the success of this tournament which benefits so many. Ms.

women's U.S. Tours. Ms. Whitworth was the recipient of the 2006 PGA First
Lady of Golf Award. Inducted into the LPGA's Hall of Fame in 1975,

sport.
